How does the referral process work?

It can be a daunting process to find the right professional to work with some of the most vulnerable children in school.

You have several choices for starting the initial contact, the quickest way is to phone me (Shauna) on  075 39 27 37 07 or to email lighthouseplaytherapy@outlook.com alternatively use the contact tab on the website. 

We will begin by discussing your needs, individual sessions, half and full day rates are available depending on your requirements. I will then ask for your email to send over in writing what we have discussed. 

If you would like the service, there is a no obligation Face to face meeting available where we can meet in person and discuss anything else that may need addressing. An agreed upon date and time for sessions to take place. Please note parental consent forms will need signing ahead of the sessions starting

The Next Step

If I am working within your school, contact the SENDCO.  The SENDCO will then discuss with the family whether they would like their child to attend play therapy sessions. If the parent or caregiver agrees, you will be asked to complete the Goodman's Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire and a referral from. These will need to be returned to either the SENDCO or myself. 

After this, parents will be invited to meet with me and to sign consent forms ahead of the sessions starting.

Please note that the quicker these forms are returned, the sooner the sessions can start. 

Initially, 12 sessions will be offered (one term) we will catch up during this time period. 

If you require any additional support within this time period, we can arrange a meeting.

    Contact me to discuss prices. A sliding scale for payment is available and is considered on a case-by-case basis.

  • Initial meeting Free

    Minimum Contract length One Term, contract can be extended subject to availability.

  • Presentations are mainly experiential and are best in person.

    1.5 hour staff meeting. This is included in the full day rate.
